Privacy and Safety

Just Reading was founded by a credentialed teacher who saw the need for a holistic way to serve families. Family and student data is critical to keeping our services throughtful. Your data is kept safe from the start.

Actions speak the values of an organization. Privacy and safety are built into communication, the consultation process, and instruction.

Data privacy:

• Website: We don’t ask for detailed information on any website form. Instead, we prefer you email us directly with initial details. A phone call is where we ask for more information.
• Communication: When you email us, we send our business number for you to call at the consultation time. Our secure phone line encrypts calls and texts in transit and at rest. We do not use a personal email or personal number for our work.
• Test Data: Screener assessment data and student test responses are physically handed to you after our initial assessment is complete. Assessment data is deleted within 30 days unless otherwise specified by the guardian.
• Reports: If a report is needed, our default is to give you a printed copy. We ask before we send it electronically.

Safety:

• Our state-level credential is publicly listed and records are searchable at: educator.ctc.ca.gov
• Most recent background check of the teacher is listed.
• The teacher is trained in Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED.
• Referrals: The main way people find us is through referrals. People that have met us or worked directly with us can usually provide our direct business number so you can contact us by call or text.
• Phone Consultation: Speak to us at the time you prefer (see our hours) and from the comfort of your own home. Get to know us, ask questions over a secure line, and schedule a time for us to do the in-person screener assessment when you are ready.
